Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels

How Do They Work?

As we age, the turnover time of our skin becomes longer, so our skin has more imperfections, is drier, has fine lines and loses its youthful glow.  Application of a light to medium depth chemical peel causes chemical exfoliation removing the top layers of skin encouraging skin renewal and boosting collagen.  By removing the top layers of the skin uneven skin tones, pigmentation, fine lines and small scars are reduced.

The Jessners Peel

The Jessners peel has been used for over 100 years.  It contains salicylic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol.  Salicylic acid is an anti-inflammatory that can treat acne and redness.  Salicylic acid also penetrates the pores and loosens congestion and can reduce pigmentation. Lactic acid exfoliates the outer layers of the skin, which allows the other ingredients to penetrate deeper. Resorcinol is assists in treating acne.
The Jessners peel is useful for:
- Smoothing fine lines & wrinkles
- Improving skin tone & texture
- Minimising pores
- Reduces acne
- Reduces pigmentation
- Gives the skin an overall & youthful 'glow'

How Long Does It Take?

The Jessners Peel is a very quick treatment and usually won't take longer than 10 minutes.  The peel is self neutralizing so no immediate aftercare is required.  A white residue may remain on the skin after treatment, this can be simply washed off with water.  No downtime is required, however there may be slight redness for a day post treatment, some skin flaking similar to peeling sunburn may occur after a few days.  Pigmentation may darken initially after the peel and then may 'crust' before peeling off.  For the first 2-3 days your skin may feel dry and tight. Your skin will be sensitive to UV following the treatment so sun exposure should be avoided without sunscreen for 1-2 weeks after the treatment.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Initially it is recommended that you have a peel every 2 weeks for 6 treatments and then follow up with maintenance peels every 8-10 weeks.  For pigmentation a peel may be paired with a whitening cream for even better results.

What Does It Cost?

The Jessners Peel is $110 per treatment.

Pulse Peel

The Pulse peel can be used to reduce premalignant cancerous cells.  This is a great alternative to Photodynamic Therapy as there is little to no downtime.
Post treatment is similar to the Jessners Peel as listed above.

Cost: $150 per treatment
